Designating an arbitration fee helps support the endowment of the Lycoming Law Association Foundation. As you may know, the Foundation was established as a tax exempt non-profit corporation in 1989.
The purposes of the Foundation stated in the Bylaws include, in part, the following:
Contributions and pledges from LLA members in the Campaign in 2001 will result in an endowment fund of over $90,000 by 2005.
One additional source of funding to the Foundation since its inception has been arbitration fees voluntarily designated by private attorneys under a rule originally adopted by the Court of Common Pleas in Lycoming County in 1989.
Beginning in 1995, the Board of Directors of the Foundation determined that 20% of the arbitration fees would be invested in a designated endowment fund and the balance would be allocated to Legal Services in order to support assistance to eligible clients in Lycoming County.
Nearly 100 attorneys in the County have completed the form designating one arbitration fee per year to the Foundation and the list is maintained by the Lycoming County Prothonotary. Attorneys may donate more than 1 arbitration fee, to further assist Legal Services and the Foundation.
Please consider completing the form and returning it to Lycoming County Prothonotary so that you can help support the efforts of the Foundation. Click here for a copy of the authorization in Adobe PDF format.
