Old Business
Constitutional Amendment
The Constitutional Amendment increasing the retirement age for active Judges was approved by the voters during the November 8, 2011 election. Judge Anderson has announced that he will continue to serve as an active Judge during the current 2017 year and will retire at the end of 2017.
There are no changes to the court calendar previously published and discussed as a result of Judge Anderson’s decision.
A new Judge to replace Judge Anderson will be elected during 2017 and sworn in on January 2018.
New Business
Business in Courtrooms 6 and 7
Courtrooms 6 and 7 on the third floor of the courthouse, occupied by Domestic Relations Hearing Officers, will now be listed on the daily court scheduling sheets posted on the second floor of the courthouse.
Bar History
The 150th anniversary of the Lycoming Law Association will occur in 2019. The Bar History Committee is meeting to discuss suggestions for commemorating the anniversary.
Judge Smith Memorial
The Memorial session of court in recognition of the passing of President Judge Clinton W. Smith, retired, is scheduled for April 7, 2017 in Courtroom 1 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Notification of Changes in Arbitration Hearings
The court requests that attorneys involved in scheduled arbitration hearings promptly notify the Court Administrator of any developments which may change the scheduling of arbitration hearings.
Next Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 1, 2017 at noon in the Law Association Executive Offices.
