The 2014 Court Calendar has been published and is available on the Lycoming Law Association website on the left hand side under Court Calendar.
New Business
Court Assignments
The Court Assignments for 2014 will be the same as 2013.
New Rules Effecting Family Law
There are new statewide rules effecting family law practice. The local rules are being reviewed to determine whether any amendments are necessary to comply with changes in statewide rules.
Inns of Court Meeting/Supreme Court Justice Max Baer
Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Max Baer will be present in Lycoming County on November 18, 2013 to participate in a mini summit on Children & Youth focusing on the traumatic effects of removing children from the family. Justice Baer will attend the Inns of Court Meeting scheduled for November 18, 2013.
Scanning of Records in Prothonotary’s Office
There was a lengthy update on the scanning of records in the Prothonotary’s office. The Prothonotary’s office is working toward electronic filing.
Recovery of Fines and Costs
The Prothonotary is entering civil judgments for recovery of costs and fines imposed in criminal matters. This has resulted in an increase in recovery of those payments.
Pro Bono Assist to Legal Services
Legal services is in need of more Pro Bono volunteers.
Orphan’s Court Rules
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court Procedural Rules Committee is vacating all local Orphan’s Court Rules and requiring that local Orphan’s Court Rules be in compliance with statewide Orphan’s Court Rules.

The next meeting will be February 3, 2014 at noon at a location to be announced.
