MEETING MINUTES

Monday, May 9, 2011

Attendance

Present were: Judge Gray, Judge Lovecchio, Richard Callahan, Charles Greevy, Jennifer Heverly, Joseph Rider, Edward Rymsza, Kevin Way, Meghan Young and Ed Mitchell.

Old Business

  • Court Website - The Court website continues to be a work in process.
  • Cell Phone Policy - There are signs posted on the second floor requiring cell phones to be turned off while in the courtroom. Cell phones are collected from jurors during jury deliberation.
  • Attendance of Jurors - Jury no shows were further reduced during the March term to 8-9%.
  • Mortgage Foreclosures - The Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Settlement Diversion Program continues to be reviewed. Court reports that it is generally working and helping some.
  • Jury Questionnaires - Court Administrator Way suggests a committee be appointed to review questionnaires and arrive at a consensus of requested changes/additions to the current questionnaire.
  • New LLA Committees - The Family Court Committee is in place and meeting.

New Business

  • Court Calendar - It is anticipated the court calendar for 2012 will be similar to 2011. Trial terms are anticipated to be the same.
  • Judicial Assignments - Judicial assignments for civil and criminal trials will remain the same. Judge McCoy, in addition to Family Court, will handle some criminal cases and some Orphans Court assignments. Judge Butts will handle all ARD matters.
  • Dismissal and expungement of record after satisfaction of ARD requirements. There was a lengthy discussion about delays in obtaining of orders for dismissal of charges and expungement of records following satisfaction of ARD requirements.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be August 1, 2011 at noon at the Ross Club.
