Present were: Judge Butts, Judge Gray, Judge Lovecchio, Judge McCoy, Court Administrator Kevin Way, Michael Collins, Robert Cronin, Charles Greevy III, William Knecht, Clifford Rieders, J. Michael Wiley, David Wilk and Jeffrey Yates.
Old Business
Court Website - Judge Butts continues to work on the Court website. It will be completed ASAP but perhaps not by December 31.
Mortgage Foreclosures - The mortgage foreclosure mediation settlement program is in place. Notice of available relief programs is being provided to defendants. Legal services is communicating with members of the bar in an effort to encourage more to participate in pro bono representation of mortgage foreclosure defendants.
Attendance of Jurors - Follow up letters are being sent to jurors who fail to return their questionnaires and/or who fail to report for jury duty.
Cell Phone Policy - A cell phone policy is being drafted by the Court.
Criminal Rules - Judge Lovecchio has scheduled a meeting with attorneys involved in criminal law matters to discuss rules and procedures. Judge Lovecchio is reviewing and revising criminal court rules.
New Business
Family Court Matters - Judge McCoy has sent to members of the bar involved in family court matters memos having to do with the MAAP program and pre-trials in equitable distribution matters.
Children and Youth - The Open Adoption Act has been signed by the Governor. It becomes effective in 180 days. Significant provisions pertain to optional agreements for visitation with biological parents and input from children pertaining to visitation.
Jury Questionnaires - A review of the questions included in the jury questionnaires will be undertaken.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be February 7, 2011 at noon at the Ross Club.
